For people feeling a depressed housing market, it
is worth considering that a joint survey by Arbor
National Mortgage and National Forests reported
that 98% of realtors felt that trees had a “strong or
moderate impact” on their ability to sell homes with
a list price of over $250,000. Additionally, the Center
for Urban Forest Research reports that the insulation,
windbreak and shade provided by a single
mature tree planted on the west side of a home leads
to a decrease in utility bills of 12%, an astounding
amount when looked at in light of a tree’s lifespan
